Todd Starnes, a pundit who has previously appeared on Fox News and Newsmax, said he wants to ask Texas Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and state Rep. James Talarico a bizarre question about his underwear.

While speaking on The Todd Starnes Show, Starnes played a clip of Talarico telling a church audience that he continually reckons with his own whiteness, masculinity, certainty, and ego, a process which he calls “never-ending” and “painful.”

Starnes sarcastically commented, “Yeah, my heart weeps for you,” before adding, “I’m not sure who’s going to be anchoring the first debate between those two [Talarico and his opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R)], but my first question [to Talarico] if I was invited would be, ‘Have you now, as a 37-year-old man, finally come to terms with your manhood? Or, do you sir, perhaps have an affinity for frilly underpants? What’s up with that?’”

The Republican strategy against Talarico has involved repeatedly insinuating that he is queer.
